Admissions – Frequently Asked Questions


General

Can we apply at any time during the year?
The deadline for all applications (except preschool) is February 15, 2012. Applications received after the deadline will be reviewed only if space is available. Preschool applications are accepted throughout the year until all classes are full.

Do I need an interview?
All applicants are required to have an interview with one of our admissions counselors. International applicants typically use a internet-based video chat program (such as Skype) for the interview.

Should I visit Cornerstone?
We strongly encourage a visit to Cornerstone as part of the application process. Contact the admissions office to arrange for a visit or student shadowing (for applicants in grades 5-11).

Tuition and Financial Aid

Are scholarships available for qualified students?
Cornerstone does not offer scholarships. However, scholarships for qualified students may be available from churches and local service organizations such as Rotary, Lions Clubs, and Kiwanis.

Is financial aid available?
A limited amount of need-based financial aid is available for current domestic families suffering extreme financial hardship.

International Program

Are students with limited English accepted?
We use the TOEFL to help determine the student’s level of English proficiency. Depending on the student‘s background and qualifications, student’s may be required to enroll in our English Language Immersion program, our summer English Jumpstart program, or our English Language Development classes.

What living arrangements are available?
For international students, we offer three different types of living arrangements: 1) You can stay with a local guardian or host family; 2) You can stay in our dormitory Monday-Friday and live with a host family or local guardian on the weekends and during vacations; or 3) You can stay in our dormitory seven days per week.

Are the dormitories open during vacations such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter?
The dormitories are open during the entire school year except during the Christmas holiday. We encourage students to spend holidays with local friends or relatives and may be able to help place students with families for vacations.

Is financial aid available?
Financial aid is not available for students in our international program.
